SAT Structure
The SAT has been structured into 5 sections. The total time for the test is 3 hours and 50 minutes with the optional essay, or 3 hours without the essay.
There is a reading section, followed by a writing section. Additionally, there is a math section. The math section is further comprised of two sub-sections. Calculators are permitted in the first math subsection, however, calculators are not permitted in the second sub-section. Finally, there is an optional essay.
Each section is comprised of a set of questions. You will need to finish these questions in the allotted time. Jumping between sections is no longer permitted. However, you are welcome to go back through the same section within the time allocated to that section.
