Coping with the COVID-19 era as a student
I know we are battling uncertainty and are looking for clear answers.
I wanted to share what I knew so far
1. Visas
All consulates are closed currently and are expected to only open after lockdown – I assume mid June. Thus there are no student visa dates typically available online. I hope this will change soon. Often they will make special exceptions for students and open more dates or even rush visas for students
2. Vaccines
Please check with your specific university on their policy. Some are willing to accept local vaccines administered in your home country and need the certificate by a certain date to allow you to enter student housing. Some others have said they will help you vaccinate on campus and will need you to quarantine until then. You will have to follow the exact protocol laid out by your specific university – please do not go by hearsay.
3. Exam results
I know this is particularly worrisome and I wish that I had an absolute answer. I do know from last year the universities were kind and helpful and didn’t penalize students for this delay. They understood the extenuating circumstance and made accommodations. I do hope they will do the same this year. I suggest corresponding with your University so you can understand their policy and accordingly make decisions.
