Important US Visa Update

  • The US embassy intends to start intensive 2 months of Visa interviews starting from July 1st.

  • Tens of thousands of interview slots would be available starting Monday 14th June. So, keep a close eye on the website to book your appointment.

  • Appointments from May that were canceled won’t be automatically rescheduled. Candidates need to reapply manually.

  • Parents won’t be allowed to accompany students to the US (B1/B2 visa) to help them settle. Students would need to travel on their own.

  • You need to have taken the RTPCR test 72 hours before flying. Currently, there is no need to quarantine. The type of vaccination currently depends on individual schools entirely. However, they may or may not accept it or may ask you to get vaccinated upon reaching campus.

  • Parents who already have B1/B2 visas would need NIE in order to fly. The embassy won’t be issuing any NIEs in such cases now.

  • Under NIE dependents planning to travel with F1 visa holders are exempted.

  • The embassy accepts electronic i20provided by schools. So get it printed and carry it with you.

  • Fully funded students do not need to show financial proofs during the visa interviews. So, if i20 has it mentioned it is enough.

  • No letter is required from the university specifying that the classes will be in person.

  • Avoid booking flights with a stop in Europe as they have strict quarantine policies.
